Hakmin Lee

이학민은 서울을 기반으로 활동하며 스튜디오 HAK을 운영하는 디자이너다. 국민대학교에서 금속공예를, 네덜란드 디자인 아카데미 에인트호번에서 컨텍스추얼 디자인을 공부한 뒤 미국에서 상업 디자인 경험을 쌓고 서울에서 자신의 스튜디오를 시작했다. 디자인, 공예와 동시대 미술의 경계를 의도적으로 흐리며 기능적 오브제와 예술적 표현의 관계를 실험한다. 소비재, 만화와 비디오게임 같은 대중문화의 시각 언어를 유머와 향수, 재료 실험이 공존하는 가구와 오브제로 전환한다.

Hakmin Lee is a Seoul-based designer and founder of Studio HAK, a multidisciplinary practice spanning design, craft and contemporary art. He studied metal craft at Kookmin University and contextual design at Design Academy Eindhoven, later gaining commercial design experience in the United States before establishing his own studio in Seoul. Lee deliberately blurs functional objects and artistic expression, testing the increasingly fluid relationship between high and low culture. References from consumer products, cartoons and video games are reworked through humour, nostalgia and material experimentation into furniture, paintings and objects.
