SONGDAHAE

송다해는 서울과 토론토를 기반으로 활동하는 한국의 다학제 예술가다. 스스로를 ‘시각적 철학자’라 부르는 그는 회화, 조각, 텍스타일과 디지털 작업을 오가며 시간과 감정을 밀고 당기고, 인간과 자연 사이의 본질적 연결을 추적한다. 나무가 자라고 물이 흐르는 방식처럼 내면의 것을 외부로, 비물질적인 것을 물질로 옮기며 서로 분리된 세계를 잇는다. 그의 작품은 존재하지 않는 장소에서 발견된 유물처럼 제시되고, 관람자가 잠시 멈춰 자신과 덧없이 지나가는 현재를 들여다보게 하는 명상적 공간을 만든다.

SONGDAHAE is a South Korean interdisciplinary artist based between Seoul and Toronto. A self-described visual philosopher, she works across painting, sculpture, textile and digital media to push and pull time, emotion and the intrinsic connection between human experience and nature. Seeking to paint as a tree grows or water flows, Song externalises the internal and materialises the immaterial, bringing disparate realms into relation. Her objects appear as artifacts from an unseen world and are often presented within meditative environments that invite viewers to look inward and consider the fleeting present.
